The Mother of Pearl shells found on our coastline with their eye-catching lustrous mineral iridescence inspired the naming of this Chardonnay. The 2021 Mother of Pearl Chardonnay is made from specially selected heritage clones which we grow in the higher elevations of our maritime Fort Ross Vineyard. This wine expresses the subtle balance between its signature minerality and delightful flavors of lemon tart and white peach. Hints of crème brûlée and poached pear, also tease the palate, adding richness to this complex and multidimensional tasting experience. This envoy from our maritime cool climate vineyard finishes with lively, fresh acidity and minerality, suggesting a long life ahead.

Our 2021 The Terraces Pinot Noir represents a pure expression of the Calera clone. On the nose, brambly black and red berries mingle with subtle hints of spiced plum and sandalwood. Showcasing captivating complexity and an embracing mouthfeel, this Pinot Noir offers a richly woven display of black cherry, raspberry, and baked rhubarb, while notes of black tea, sous bois, and dried orange peel add distinct elegance. In its youth, this wine possesses lively acidity that is backed by a firm, yet after time in the glass, approachable structure. Its 15 months in 50% new French oak provide additional texture to a wine that is destined for a long life in bottle.
While Pinotage shares many traits with Pinot Noir, there is an earthy brambleness that distinguishes it from its more famous cousin. Intense aromas of dark berry compote and lychee soar from the glass with hints of fragrant gardenias, white pepper and anise chiming in. This deep garnet Pinotage has a concentrated depth of bold flavors that envelop the palate with tiers of blackberry, cassis and black plum framed by baking spices and ginger. Prominent dark berry fruit is in complete harmony with the persistent tannins, balanced acidity and long, perfumed finish. The layered textural complexities and robust flavors pair beautifully with exotic spices, rich Italian food, smoked and grilled meats, anything from a wood fired oven and for the adventurous – sweet berry desserts. Prior to release, this wine was patiently cellared until optimal, but it will certainly age gracefully for years to come.
